Get Your Pokémon to Level 100
Pokémon is a game enjoyed by many people around the world. It began to gain popularity in Japan, where Pokémon are known as "Pocket Monsters", then in the US. In the game, animal-like "monsters" called Pokémon battle each other. Trainers raise their Pokémon to become the best fighters. Each Pokémon trainer's mission is to catch every Pokémon and to raise them to be as powerful as possible. A Pokémon's power is measured in levels, with the maximum level being 100. Getting to level 100 is a long, hard, ultimately rewarding process for aspiring Pokémon masters.

Steps
- Realize how long this will take. It will take longer or shorter depending on how high your Pokémon's level is at. A Lv5 Squirtle will take much longer to train than a Lv80 Blastoise. The Blastoise might take about 5:00 to 7:00 hours of playing time to get it to the "golden level". As for the Squirtle, it will take about 48:00.
- Teach your Pokémon effective moves! This is important, because choosing the moves will determine how effectively your Pokémon battles. A Pokémon may either be taught moves with TMs (technical machines), HMs ( Hidden Machines), or it will learn a move on its own.
- Battle! This is the most obvious technique. Battling against other Pokémon boosts exp. The stronger the Pokémon you beat, the more exp. your Pokémon gains. If your Pokémon is at level 80 or above, the Elite Four is a great place to train. Deposit all Pokémon except the one you wish to train and battle the Elite Four. You will probably lose (don't use items) but you will make back the money you lost and your Pokémon will train very fast.
- If you don't have the vs seeker go to Vermillion and talk to the person at the counter at the Pokémon Center, and she will give it to you. The vs seeker will let you battle trainers you have already battled, which is a great way to level up your Pokémon and become richer.
League
- Train up 5 Pokémon to league standard (level 50+).
- Then choose which Pokémon best fits each person.
- Make sure your matches can beat the person.
- Do the league again and again and again.
- This works well if you want to train up more than one Pokémon at a time.
- Make sure you bring lots of revives and full restores in case you faint.
- If you want to do this for the Johto League, you need a dark move for will, Ground and Rock for Koga, Flying and Water for Bruno, Fighting for Karen, and Electric for Lance's Gyrados and Ice for his rest. The moves will take of his Dragonites and a water move will take out his Aerodactyl and charizard. Beware that Aerodactyl knows thunderfang, so be careful with water types.
Daycare (for Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum)
- Go to Solaceon Town.
- Put the Pokémon you want to get to level 100 in the daycare.
- Go to Feugo Ironworks.
- Find a place where there is a tile that sends you to a wall.
- Put something heavy on the direction button that is facing the opposite direction of the direction that the tile sends you.
- Leave your game like that for a few hours. (Connect your DS to its charger)
- If you want it to go faster, put something on the "B" button too.
Daycare method for HGSS
- Choose the two Pokémon you want to put in the Daycare. If you don't care what moves your Pokémon learns, skip this step.
- As you probably know, you can't choose what moves your Pokémon learns in the daycare. However, there is a way to manage that to a limited level. Assuming your Pokémon only learns a couple more moves you can change which moves will be deleted first. At the Pokémon menu, you can view the list of moves it has. You can switch the placement of these moves, by pushing the button that says "SWITCH" and placing the moves you want deleted first at the higher rows.
- Bulbapedia makes a good choice to find out at what level your Pokémon learns new moves.
- Go to Goldenrod City. Run or bike straight down to the Route the daycare's on.
- Put the two Pokémon in the daycare.
- Go to Ecruteak City.
- Upon walking with Pokémon, they gain friendship. This can be very helpful for accelerating Evolutions, learning a few tutor moves, and more. Go to the Pokémon center in Ecruteak City and get up to six Pokémon you want to max out happiness. The strength of all the Pokémon do not matter. (This is optional.)
- Go to the Ecruteak City Gym.
- Put something heavy (such as a rock) on the Up Directional button. Also choose this on the B button, preferably, to accelerate the leveling process.
- Leave the game alone overnight. Come back in the morning to visit the Daycare Center, etc. By now the Pokémon in your current party would have maxed out their friendship levels, and your Daycare Pokémon probably increased in level by a ridiculous amount. (Do not forget to plug up the DS charger.)
Tips
- Save Rare Candies. When your Pokémon's Lv is higher, it is harder to get the exp. up.
- Pack potions. You will need them, especially when in areas where a Pokémon Center is not available, such as a forest or cave.
- Use a Lucky Egg. These are held randomly by wild Chanseys. They double the experience gained.
- Get Pokémon with a beneficial nature and good IVs. They'll be stronger in the long run.
- Trade with others. You get a 50% experience boost when you battle with Pokémon that have been traded to you.
- You can also give your Pokémon Pokérus. More information on that is available when you Google it. It speeds up the stat growth of your Pokémon.
- Don't bother training Pokémon with a poor nature to level 100 if you can help it. The difference while levelling may be just a few points, however multiply a few points by 100 and your Pokémon will end up much weaker at the end.
- If your Pokémon is able to evolve, let it! You will not only get another Pokémon added to your PokéDex, but you might also notice that its HP goes up higher than it was before. Also, your Pokémon's other stats will be higher. However, in some specific cases, your Pokémon's stats may go down when it evolves. For example, this happens in the cases of Scyther to Scizor, and Murkrow to Honchkrow: their speed stats fall. On the other hand, their attack and special attack stats rise a lot.
- If you have Pokémon heartgold/soulsilver, use the Pokéwalker. (Note: It can only raise one level maximum. But It helps when you're almost to the golden level or the level you want.)
- If the Pokémon you want to level is between 1-50, you can powerlevel it by giving it the Exp. share and making it the first in the party, then challenge the Elite 4 or other powerful trainers. As soon as the battle starts, switch it for a more powerful Pokémon. This way your Pokémon will get 1000+ exp each Pokémon defeated, and speed through the first 40-50 levels within an hour depending on which game you have (In some games the Elite 4 and Champion give more experience than others.)
Warnings
- Do not get frustrated if this takes a while.
- Make sure you save the game before turning it off. Anything unsaved will go wasted.
- Make sure you save your game before doing any difficult tasks.
- If you haven't beaten the final gym leader, don't do these things, or your Pokémon will not obey you if you got them in a trade.
- If you use the Daycare Method, you may need to use Protein, Carbos, etc., or EV train it before you start. Also, some moves may be replaced by undesired ones as it levels up. It's not a problem if you have Heart Scales, but use your rare TMs after it becomes level 100.
- Most Pokémon will learn moves earlier, some up to eight levels earlier, if you do not evolve them right away. However, some in the newer games, such as Diamond or Pearl, stop learning moves altogether after a certain level if not evolved. Read a guide to research when you want to let your Pokémon evolve.
- If you use the cheats or gameshark codes to help your Pokémon get ahead, be careful not to enter too many cheats, as this may cause your game to crash or freeze.
