Get a Free Song from iTunes

Sure you love music, but that doesn't mean you want to spend a fortune on growing your collection. I mean, wouldn't it be nice to get a free song now and then? You can. Free and perfectly legal music is out there, and it's yours for the taking - you just have to know where to look!

Steps

Using the "Free on iTunes" Feature

  1. Get the "Single of the Week." From the iTunes Store homepage, click on "Music" on the bar at the top of the screen. Once inside, check out the menu bar on the right and choose "Free on "iTunes." You'll be taken to a page where you can see and download the Single of the Week.
    • Another way to get to the "Single of the Week" is to choose "Free on iTunes" from the Quick Links menu on the right-hand side of the iTunes Store homepage.
    • From the "Free on iTunes" page, you can also see the TV episodes, movie featurettes, books and apps that are available for free.
  2. Listen to music-oriented podcasts. Music podcasts are similar to pre-recorded radio shows in that they include songs and commentary. Occasionally you can find one that skips the commentary. To access these podcasts, go to the iTunes Store homepage and click the "Podcasts" drop down menu on the top bar. Choose "Music" from the menu, and you'll have access to all the free music podcasts iTunes has to offer.
    • Get a free song by choosing AOLMedia's MP3 of the Day Podcast. It offers one full, free song in each episode. Type the name of this podcast into the iTunes search feature in the upper-right-hand corner of the podcast page.
    • You can subscribe to a podcast by clicking the "Subscribe" button next to the title, and new episodes will download automatically. You can also download past episodes by clicking the "Free" button next to an individual episode on the podcast's home page.

Getting the Starbucks "Pick of the Week"

  1. Get a "Pick of the Week" card. Stop by Starbucks and pick up one of the small, round-cornered cards set out on the counter. Sometimes they're located near the cash register, other times you'll find them on the cream-and-sugar station.
    • New cards are put out on Tuesdays. If you time it right, you might find this week's and last week's picks on display.
  2. Download the song. The front of each card has the name of the song and the name and photo of the artist. On the back is a download code. To download your song, open iTunes, go to the iTunes Store, click on "Quick Links" and then choose "Redeem" and enter the code.
  3. Use the Starbucks Digital Network. If you're at Starbucks with you computer, connect to the shop's WiFi. Once you're connected, go to the Entertainment section of the page and download the "Pick of the Week" from the Starbucks site.

  1. Try jammin' with Jamendo. Jamendo is an online music source that hosts thousands of tracks to stream and download all for free and all completely legal.]]
  2. Get music from YouTube. You listen to music on YouTube, why not download it from the site and have it handy when you want to listen.
