Template:TechupdateThis page will show you how to record and make your own CD using Audacity and iTunes.
Contents
Steps
- Download a beat. Try Sound Click
- Open Audacity and drag the beat to it. It will say importing MP3 file, wait until it is 100% finished importing.
- You are now ready to start recording. Turn on your microphone and start recording your melody to the beat.
- After recording, take the static off from the mic. This is done by highlighting the fuzzy blue line that shows what you just recorded.
- Next, cut the song. If you didn't use the whole beat highlight the unused beat and click on the little scissors to get rid of it.
- Next, go to file and click on export as WAV. Here you should type in the name of the song you recorded, this way if you record more than one you'll be able to see which is which.
- Now open iTunes, click on file and click on export WAV then click the name of the song you recorded.
- You can now make a playlist on iTunes. Put this song on there and wait until you have recorded enough songs to burn it to a CD. 12 songs are a typical minimum.
Tips
- Try to use all of the features audacity offers like echo, bass booster and others, to make your song better.
- If it's your first time, have a play around until you get a feel for the style you want to create.
- Try to aim at a specific genre, if you want to create a pop song, research artists that have a sound you like and put your own twist on their style.
Warnings
- If you have a lot of programs running at the same time Audacity/iTunes may stop responding
