Steps
- Contact a company for security training and ask them when their next guard card class is. Many organizations have classes almost every weekend.
- Register and pay for the 8-hour course right online if desired. Sometimes you will need to drive a little bit because there are very few that offer this training.
- Pay the amount requested for the course. It's generally around $100.
- Complete the course. After you have taken the course, you will have to either send in the information received from the course to the State Police (the paper you get when you pass, fingerprint cards, and 3 checks one for $100, one for $50, and one for $14.75), or you can drive to Middletown, CT (State Police) (The Connecticut Department of Emergency Services & Public Protection) and get the card instantly.
- Do more training if desired. Note there is extra training, but it's up to you how far you want to go.
Tips
- You can get your fingerprints at police stations if you like. They charges range from free to $140. The Connecticut Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection in Middletown charges around $15, but it's worth it because if they are not happy with the way your prints were taken they can reject them. Even if you get them done for free bring the $15 with you so you do not have to travel all across the state for more fingerprints.
- Additionally the Middletown Dept of Emergence Service and Public Protection takes your picture for free!!!
Warnings
- If you have any felony, do not try to get your guard license! It won't work!
