Get the Egg Pokémon You Want on Crystal

In Pokémon Crystal, the Day Care people give you the Odd Egg. However, it rarely hatches into a Pokémon you want. Here is something that usually works that increases your chances of getting the Pokémon you want.

Steps

  1. When you get to the route below Goldenrod, clear out all the trainers from there to the building to the park, BEFORE YOU GET THE EGG. Make sure you have the bike, too.
  2. Go to the Day Care couple and save before you talk to the Daycare man. Then, go ahead and take the egg, and use the space you cleared of fighting trainers to hatch it. It will take a while, but it'll be worth it.
    • One of the following will hatch out of the egg: Magby, Pichu, Igglybuff, Elekid, Cleffa, Smoochum, or Tyrogue. If you aren't aiming for a certain Pokémon, but a Shiny one, this works just as well; you just might have to wait longer.

Tips

  • There is a 1/16 chance that the egg from the Day Care people is a shiny egg. If it is, hatch the shiny Pokémon, and thereafter, breed it with other Pokémon with the same "doll" sprite to get many shiny Pokémon. The eggs thereafter will have a 1/60 chance.
