Gleek

Gleeking is the act of stimulating the salivary glands underneath your tongue into spitting a concentrated jet of pure saliva. Usually, it happens when you yawn. It takes practice and concentration to gleek on purpose, but these steps will help you learn how so you can add it to your arsenal of body tricks.

Steps

Knowing the Basics

  1. Feel under your tongue. You can use the tip of your tongue or your finger. You should feel one little bump. This is your saliva gland. Technically, its scientific name is the submandibular gland.
  2. Yawn or eat sour candy to stimulate saliva production. If you use candy, make sure it is hard candy or gum like a lollipop or a Warhead. Mustard also works very well. You can also build pressure in your saliva glands by rubbing the tip or side of your tongue against a sharp edge of your teeth.
  3. Get in front of a mirror. If you gleek, you want to be able to see it.

Holding Your Tongue

  1. Hold your tongue softly on the roof of your mouth. Breath in, then push.
  2. Push the tip of your tongue just behind the bump under your tongue. Push it down hard, then let go.

Flexing Your Tongue

  1. Follow the first two steps above.
  2. Flex your tongue. Try flexing the muscles in your biceps. This should be how it feels when you flex or harden your tongue.
  3. As you're flexing your tongue, push your lower jaw out. Bring it back and down, breathe in slightly, and bring it hard against the roof of your mouth. A thin stream will probably come out.

Sucking Air Under Your Tongue

  1. Suck air under your tongue.
  2. Extend your jaw.
  3. Push your tongue to the top of your mouth. You want it basically where your teeth meet your gums.
  4. Finished.

Tips

  • When attempting to gleek, point the tip of the tongue to the back of your throat. Next, push the bottom of your tongue, which is now facing the roof of your mouth, up and forward to where your teeth meet your gums. If you do this in one quick motion, you should feel a tension in the stringy ligament under your tongue. This lets you know you've got the right idea. Now all that's left is to practice the motion until you can forcibly gleek!
  • Eat something sweet or tangy, such as a Sour Patch Kid candy. This will get the juices flowing in your mouth.
  • Make sure there's a lot of saliva in your mouth underneath the tongue near the base.
  • Suction your tongue to the roof of your mouth, then open your mouth fairly wide, slowly. Keep it open for a second or two, then close it about 1/3 of the way rapidly.
  • Curl your tongue up and back into your mouth. In this position, press the underside of the tip of your tongue against the roof of your mouth. Vary your movements slightly to achieve the desired effect.
  • Be sure to be properly hydrated prior to the attempt.
  • Unfortunately, these tips won't work every time for every person.
  • Gleeking also works after using a strong mouthwash.

Warnings

  • In many countries, spitting is illegal as it is considered unhealthy to spit in public places.
