If you want to go from black hair to blonde, then you just have to find a good hair lightening kit, use it, and then dye your hair blonde a few weeks later. After you dye your hair blonde, all you have to do is heavily condition it for the next few weeks and you'll be all set. Get ready to channel your inner Marilyn Monroe -- or your inner Miley!

Steps

  1. Purchase after 2-3 weeks a (bleach) lightening kit. Search something that will lighten up. Get for 6 Levels or more. If you know what you're doing, you can also purchase regular bleach ingredients (bleach powder and 30 developer).
    • Use 2 till 3 weeks prior to dying your hair blonde anti-dandruff shampoo and conditioner, or tea-tree oil shampoo daily as it helps strip color.
  2. Apply the lightening formula to your hair and follow the directions included. Your hair should have lightened considerably and will either look very blonde, or yellow colored.
  3. Purchase a hair color (dye) to tone your bright hair to the color of blonde you want. This way your hair will look less yellow/orange, and more of a blonde color.
    • If your hair is still not blonde enough, you can reapply the bleach, but only leave it in for about 15-20 minutes to avoid too much damage.
  4. Heavily condition your hair for the following weeks.

Tips

  • Preparation is vital, use a afterwards a reconstruct shampoo and conditioner.
  • If you used a chemical-based black hair dye, use a hair dye stripper (color remover) up to three times. Make sure to rinse more than you think you need to - any remaining dye in the hair will return.

Warnings

  • Don't over bleach, nothing is worse than having dry hair.
  • Never mix bleach in a metal bowl.
  • If your hair has multiple layers of dye, this process will be best advised to take course over several weeks.
  • Think before you try it, and make sure you are comfortable doing this before beginning
