Have a Party Without Your Parents Knowing

Ever wonder how to have a great party while your parents are gone without them finding out? Read this how-to to find out how!

Steps

  1. Research! Find a time when your parents will be gone, and all your siblings and other family members(if you have any) are also gone. Most families have a calendar where they write down events, appointments, etc. Try to find a day and time where the house will be empty. Avoid asking parents directly, because this may sound suspicious. Playing sick can also help you get the house to yourself if the whole family is going somewhere together, but this may backfire! The whole family may have to stay to "take care" of you.
  2. Planning whom to invite is key. If you want a large party, tell the people you invite to "bring their friends". If you want to keep it smaller, tell them so.
  3. Consider what parts of your house people will be in most of the time. Remove any objects that can be broken and put them in different rooms. If valuables of any kind are laying around, make sure you hide them as well.
  4. Lock doors to rooms where you don't want people, like your computer room, or parents room for example.
  5. Put out food that is not too messy. If people are drinking, this will help them not get too clumsy. However, keep your guests away from alcohol.
  6. When answering the door for each person, lock it after wards.
  7. Clean up while the party is happening. Bring out the garbage bags and start dumping out beer cans and other garbage a little by little.
  8. When you start to become too tired, then it is time for guests to leave.
  9. Ask the guests to help you clean up before they leave. (Preferably ask them before the party, as a heads up and something to hold them to)
  10. The time you should get yourself up to do the clean up will depend on the time your parents come home. No matter what, always do it the right after the party or the following day. Never procrastinate on this part.
  11. Start with all the cans and bottles, dump and throw in garbage bags to be recycled later. Too much trash can signal to what you were doing, either that or if the fridge is too empty.
  12. Move on to general clean-up like garbage and dishes. Sweep and mop the floor in your house.
  13. Check tabletops and walls for any stains or marks, and clean them if necessary.
  14. Afterwards, move tables and furniture back into their original place.
  15. You are done! Examine the area for anything that you may have missed. Taking a photo on a camera/phone will help you fix things you might have missed but your parents would notice, check the photos often throughout clean up.

Tips

  • When cleaning bottles and cans, look under counters, inside bathtubs, and behind objects such as TVs.
  • If friends stayed over, make them help you clean. It is the least they can do.
  • Clean to the point where the house looks normal, not so it is super clean. If your parents come home after being gone for the night and the house is spotless that is suspicious.
  • Nothing is worse than that smell of stale beer in a house, and it gets harder to get rid of as time goes by.
  • Find a way to discard your garbage where your parents can't find it. If you drive, take it to a dumpster.
  • Keep an eye on where everyone in your house is, this makes it much easier for the clean-up process.
  • Try to figure out an approximate number of people that will be attending.
  • When parents get home act like your watching TV
  • Make sure you are treating your guests nicely.
  • You can make life much easier for yourself by getting your parents' permission for the party. If you're patient and play your cards right, you can usually get them to agree if you promise to keep it small.
  • For music, ahead of time, tell the attendees that have iPhones to download Apple's "Remote" app, as the guests could vote on the music

Warnings

  • If you are inviting people via social networking; make sure that it is private enough so that your family won't see. Your plans would be ruined if you parents read your posts and that will definitely blow your cover. Try to be discrete, even if your parents aren't 'tech. savvy' you don't want Uncle Bill asking your Mother why there is a huge party invite your Facebook wall or twitter feed.
  • Don't invite people you don't know, and don't let your friends bring strange people to the party. The bigger the party, the bigger the risk.
  • If a neighbor comes to inquire what is happening, your best chance is to open the door, and tell him the truth. If you do not know the neighbor, do not open the door.
  • There is a chance that strangers will come over, so keep the door locked and open it to only people you know.
  • When you clean up the mess, BE CAREFUL! Do not make the house look too tidy or parents will get suspicious. Try saying that you think cleaning up around the house is good enough for being great parents. If you are someone who are always messy, try to remember how the house was before the party.
  • Check your fridge and be sure to take all alcohol out and hide it in a secure place, so your parents aren't suspicious when their alcohol is gone.
  • If you play loud music, your neighbors will hear it and may complain, which increases the chance your parents will find out.
  • Don't have lighted candles around, and don't play games with lighters or matches. (If you HAVE to play with fire, do it outdoors and keep a bucket of water or fire extinguisher nearby.)
  • If you insist on taking the chance, limit the number of drinks per person and take the car keys of anyone who has been drinking. Don't let anyone drive home for at least two hours after they've had their last drink.
  • It's best not to serve alcohol at all, since this is illegal in many places, and at the very least it will triple your risk of getting caught/getting in trouble. At worst, you could get someone thrown in jail, badly injured, or killed in a car accident.

Warnings

  • DON'T invite people unless you are 100% sure your parents (and siblings) will be gone.
