Steps
Sun
- Put on sunscreen. This method requires spending extended time in the sun, and you don't want to do anything to damage your skin.
- Find a spot that gets an even amount of direct sunlight.
- Lie down and spread your hair out. Cover your body with a towel or cloth, or lie with your body/face in the shade and your hair in the sun.
- Repeat often. You should start to notice results after a couple weeks.
Lemon
- Mix about 2 tablespoons of pure lemon juice with 6 tablespoons of water. For best results, squeeze the juice directly from a lemon—you don't want any added sugars in your hair or it will get sticky. You will need slightly more if your hair is long, slightly less if it's short.
- Rub the mixture into your dry hair. Leave it in for a few hours, then rinse it out.
- Repeat for several days. For added effects, go out in the sun while the lemon is in your hair.
Black Tea
- Brew a cup of black tea.
- Allow it to cool.
- Test it on a small section of your hair. If you already have light hair, this method could end up darkening it.
- Rinse your hair with the cooled cup of tea.
- Repeat for a few days.
Cinnamon
- Combine three tablespoons of cinnamon with four tablespoons of conditioner. Mix until the cinnamon is evenly distributed. The result should be a thick paste.
- Coat your hair. Massage the mixture onto your head. For best results, use a fine-tooth comb evenly distribute the paste.
- Let sit. Put a plastic processing cap over your hair once the mixture has been thoroughly worked in, and leave in for at least four hours.
- If you want to leave it in for longer than four hours, consider putting in the paste just before bed, and washing it out in the morning.
- Rinse your hair. Repeat this process a few times a week until you achieve the shade you want or to maintain color. Remember that cinnamon only has the potential to lighten your hair by two to three shades.
Tips
- Wash your hair two to three times a week to keep it clean and gorgeous. Don't overdo it, though - washing your hair too often rids the hair of natural oils and damages it.
- If you use lemon, be warned that it may dry out your hair a lot. Don't forget to condition!
- Be patient. These methods take a while, and while you may not notice it as much others will.
