Hold Hands With Your Girl/Boy Friend

If you have a boyfriend, or a girlfriend, you know that there comes a time when you feel the urge to hold his/her hand. This is normal. It's okay to show affection and love to your girlfriend or boyfriend. Typically, couples start holding hands on the third day of "going out" at the earliest. Read on to find out more on how to hold hands, and how to react to your partner if they don't seem to want to hold your hand: Just try the next time you guys go out.

Steps

  1. Put your hand near his/hers. This works well if you are sitting or walking next to each other, but make sure his/her hand is at his/her side. Hold your hand very close to his/hers, even maybe touching a bit, but look straight ahead. Don't freak out or stare down at your hands.
  2. Move your hand even closer, and soon, very slowly put your hand in his/hers. Close it around his/her hand. This would be a good time to look up at him/her. If he/she just stares at you, smile. If he/she pulls away, just quit all together. He/She is just not ready to do this yet.
  3. If your boyfriend or girlfriend seems to be enjoying himself/herself, holding hands with you, this is good. He/she is comfortable with this, and if you think you are ready, intertwine your fingers in his/hers. He/She will eat this up!
  4. Congrats! You are holding hands with your cutie! If he/she doesn't like it, don't worry! He or she is nervous and just not ready! If he or she pulls away, do not try to hold hands with him/her again that day!
  5. Move on to hugs, more touching, and maybe a little kissing! This is a slower process. Do not move into this too fast. If you do, he/she will think that you are a creep and will make fun of you behind your back.
  6. Don't feel embarrassed! It's okay if he/she either jerks away, or looks down. Everyone has his/her own speed. If you freak out he/she will understand. But just keep trying different days until he/she is ready. If you don't feel comfortable, you are okay! Holding hands isn't the most important thing to do in a relationship.

Tips

  • Don't hold too tightly. Be natural.
  • Keep your hands close to his/hers and smile. This will indicate that you want to hold hands.
  • Make sure your hands aren't sweaty or clammy. Wipe the sweat from your hands and let them air dry before you try. If your hands are still sweaty, excuse yourself and apply just a puff of baby powder, then rub it in.
  • If you look down by accident and he/she wants to hold your hand, and you are willing to as well, look at them and smile, then keep walking or listening or doing whatever you were doing.
  • Don't freak out. Remain calm.
  • Just stay calm and try not to be uncomfortable.
  • Put lotion on your hands because sometimes your hands can be ashy; nobody wants to hold an ashy hand.
  • Try not to blush too much. There's nothing to be ashamed of!
  • If you're in a scary movie or maybe a scary scene in a movie, and feeling bold you could just say "I'm scared will you hold my hand?" They can't really say no to that.
  • Try not to initiate every time and let them take your hand sometimes, otherwise, you may seem clingy or pushy.

Warnings

  • This could possibly ruin a relationship if tried too early in a relationship, but, typically not.
