Install Homemade Straight Pipe

Steps
- Park the car on level ground. Place step behind both rear tires to prevent movement.
- Make sure car is completely cooled down.
- Proceed underneath the vehicle from the rear. Wearing safety goggles measure the length of the muffler.
- Using the rough measurement plus an additional {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} for expected error, or other mistakes made while measuring. Purchase the pipe and 2 clamps (1 piece) or 3 clamps (2 pieces). Along with string.
- Repeat step 1 and 2 if needed after purchasing items.
- Proceed back underneath the vehicle from the rear. Using the string, tie it around each end of the muffler. Attach it above in a fixed position, so that the muffler will not fall.
- Cut the two ends of the muffler with a reciprocating saw. Freeing it from tailpipes then untie the strings to drop the muffler.
- Clean up any rough edges on the existing pipes with a file.
- Hold the straight pipes up to ensure proper fit. Trim any pieces that would hinder a proper installation.
- Slip pipes onto the tailpipe and mid pipe. Connect the new pipes so that they can be held up without assistance.
- Take the clamps and put them on each end that was connected. Tighten each nut equally until tight.
- Go through and tighten all the nuts, ensuring proper tightness.
- Use exhaust paste around each overlapping connection. Let dry for the time allotted on instructions of exhaust paste.
- Check for leaks by test driving and starting vehicle. After the paste has dried.
Tips
- Check gauge on the car to be safe and for sure car is cooled down.
- Always have someone assist you in case of emergencies and accidents.
Warnings
- Measure twice cut once.
- Fitting in pieces is not an option make sure all cuts made and new pieces don't clash
