Install a Wireless and Cable Free FM Transmitter in a Car
FM Transmitters were developed to hear music in a car without operating a CD player. Owners of vintage cars can hear music from MP3 data without using an MP3 player, only from an USB stick or SD-card.

Steps
- Understand that the transmitter has a weak transmission performance with a range of only one yard. This is the reason for allowing the use in many countries. It will be operated by the car plug-in (12 V tension on board).
- Look for a frequency on your car radio between 87,4 and 108 MHz, where no other radio stations are sending and disturbing your own music.
- Set up this frequency on your FM transmitter (see the manual) after putting it into the 12 V plug-in.
- Connect your MP3 source (it may be an USB stick, a SD card or by cable a MP3 player, all loaded up with your music).
- Make sure the music is good-quality. The functions of the car radio (balance, loudness, treble, bass) can be used as usual.
- In case of quality loss of the sound change the frequency of the transmitter and the radio.
- Keep in mind that a frequency change may be necessary more often, when travelling long distance. This is especially the case when many radio stations use frequencies in a very small range and a great signal performance.
- When leaving the car, disconnect the transmitter from the car electric, as it can empty your car battery.
- Keep in mind that FM car radios, built in the 1950s, can receive the signal, as it acts like a normal radio station. Be mindful of the tension on board. Many elder cars operate with 6 V. In this case you must use a voltage converter from 6 to 12 Volts.
Tips
- Some countries do not allow to operate such transmitters. Get information about the legal situation before operating this.
- This transmitter can be used as a music player outside a car.You need : a transistor radio with FM range instead of a car radioa 12 V Car charger (110 - 240 V to 12 V transformator)Find a free frequency range and use the same one for radio and transmitter.
Warnings
- Mind the correct tension for the installation.
- Keep away from children.
- Remove the transmitter from tension if it becomes too warm to avoid fire.
- For any further information see the manufacturer's manual (radio, car and transmitter)
- If the fuse breaks down , find the reason for the failure and n e v e r replace the fuse by a"stronger" one
- Always monitor the operating temperature, especially at warm weather.
