Install an Operating System on a Brand New Computer
Do you want to know how to install an operating system on your brand new computer? Read these simple instructions to install your OS (Operating System).
Steps
- Insert the boot disk, that has your operating system, into your CDROM/USB/floppy.
- If it doesn't boot straightaway, then restart your computer so that you can view the BIOS screen. If you don't know how to get to your BIOS screen, please refer to your computer's instruction manual.
- Go to the boot menu.
- Next, there will be a black screen telling you to a device to boot off of. Select CDROM/USB/floppy.
- The computer should start booting off the CD. Then, it may run a disk check.
- Follow the instructions on the screen to install your new OS.
- You may be asked to Create Your Own Partition with Super Fdisk your hard disk.
- Choose partition to install.
- Format your partition (erases all data).
- You may be asked to install a bootloader.
- You may be asked to set an administrative password.
Warnings
- Different operating systems require different amounts of RAM. If your computer doesn't have enough memory installed, you should install extra RAM.
