Maintain Your Chrome Alloy Wheels

Alloy wheels have the ability to transform any ordinary vehicle into something stylish and these days it’s just not plain alloy, but modern chrome alloy wheels that have become a style statement for mid-range to high-end vehicle. Chrome alloy wheels don’t only look good, but they also act as an enhancement to the flashy exterior of the vehicle. However, with time chrome alloy wheels tend to lose their shine, get all scratched-up and rusted. So if you are worried about your chrome alloy wheels, just keep the following maintenance steps in mind:

  1. Use acidic solution: If your chrome alloy wheels are rusted, then the best way to remove it by using some acidic solution. You can use vinegar or cola to clean the surface of the wheels with the help of aluminum foil. Simply crush the foil to make a ball and apply vinegar or cola on the wheels, followed with circular motion of the foil. Once you are done, clean the surface with a soft, dry cloth and viola rust marks gone!
  2. Use soapy solution: Once the rust is off the wheels, the next step is to clean the dust off them. For this all you need is a simple soapy solution and piece of cloth. Soak the cloth in the solution and properly clean wheels. For the folds, nooks and corners of the wheels, you can use a toothbrush. Now that you have cleaned the wheels, wash them with plain water so that there is no soap on the wheels and make sure to end this process by wiping the wheel with a clean and dry cloth.
  3. Use baking soda: The wheels look clean, don't they? But there are still a few things you need to do like washing the wheels with a mixture of baking soda and water. This will make the surface of smooth and give it a shine. Dip a piece of cloth in the mixture and make sure to continuously turn the cloth inside-out so that it can gather the dust and dirt. Once done, wash the wheels with plain water and wipe it dry.
  4. Use chrome cleaner: Now clean your chrome wheels with chrome cleaner and make the wheels look as good as new. It comes in both spray and bottle form. You can either dip a clean cloth in the solution and rub the cloth on the wheels or simply spray the solution on the wheel and wipe it with a dry cloth. This will give your wheels a polished look.
  5. Apply body wax:  The final step is to give the wheels everlasting shine and protect your chrome alloy wheels by applying some car body wax. Make it a point to apply the wax with a soft piece of cloth and for the final wipe use a clean piece of cloth. Repeat this cycle 2-3 times.
