Make Baked Crescent Churros

Using pre-made croissant (crescent) dough as a main ingredient, you can create delicious desserts instead of the intended plain croissant. If you can't get a hold of a crunchy churro, improvise with croissants!

Ingredients

  • 1 can (8 ounces / 227g) refrigerated croissant dinner rolls
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons butter or margarine, melted

Steps

Preparation

  1. Preheat the oven to 375ºF, or 190ºC.
  2. Melt the butter in a microwave-safe bowl for about 30-40 seconds. Place on the side.

  3. Measure and mix the cinnamon and sugar together in a small bowl.

Preparing the Dough

  1. Unroll the dough on a cutting board. Separate it into 4 rectangles or 2 triangular pieces that are attached together. Make sure that the seams are sealed together.

  2. Use a basting brush, coat the 2 rectangular pieces of dough with a light layer of butter.
  3. Sprinkle about half of the sugar/cinnamon mix onto the buttered dough.

  4. Place the other two dough rectangles on top of the buttered ones, as if you were making a sandwich.

  5. Use a pizza cutter or sharp knife and cut the dough into 5 or 6 thin strips, lengthwise.

  6. Take each strip and carefully twist it 3-4 times. Place the strips on a greased cookie sheet.

Baking the Crescent Churros

  1. Bake for 11-13 minutes, or until golden brown.
  2. Brush the tops with any remaining butter and sugar/cinnamon mixture.

  3. Serve hot or warm.
