Make Canned Biscuit Dough Donuts
Everyone likes donuts (for the most part). This is how to make a delicious breakfast or snack easily with just a few things.
Ingredients
- Cooking oil
- Biscuits (the ones that come in cylindrical tubes that expand when you open them)
- Icing
Steps
- Pour about {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}} of cooking oil into a large pot. Turn burner on medium high heat to preheat oil.
- Open the cylinder of biscuits and remove and separate the individual biscuits.
- Poke holes in the middle of the pre-shaped biscuits with your finger or butter knife.
- Heat the oil to about 350ºF on a stove burner, being careful not to overheat it.
- Using a tongs or slotted spoon, place biscuits carefully in the hot oil. Cook until they are golden brown on the bottom, about 1 1/2 minutes, then turn them to cook the other side until browned.
- Remove with a large slotted spoon and allow to drain on paper towels till cool enough to touch.
- Dip them in your favorite topping, or ice with an icing made from one cup confectioner's sugar, 3 tbsp water, and one tsp vanilla.
- Enjoy!
Tips
- You can fry the "holes" the same way.
- If using larger "grand biscuits" try increasing cooking time to 2.5 minutes.
- Remove with a slotted spoon or tongs.
Warnings
- Avoid overfilling the pot, or the oil will splash out.
- Wear long sleeves and be careful when dealing with hot oil.
