Make Fruit Salad With Yogurt

You have some delicious fruit of the season, and want to try a simple fruit salad. Your family will be happy to share such a fresh and delicious dish. This is how to make fruit salad with yogurt.

Steps

  1. Prepare the fruit. Depending on the fruit of the season, wash it first, then peel, seed, core and cut it into small bite-sized pieces. Save any juice that comes to add to the salad.
  2. Prepare the bowl. Place the cut fruit in a deep bowl, and if possible, sprinkle on a tablespoon of lemon juice to preserve the color of cut fruit.
  3. Add other ingredients. You could add shredded coconut, raisins, craisins, chopped raw or toasted nuts, or dried fruit bits.
  4. Add the dressing. Use plain whole or low-fat yogurt, adding enough to lightly coat each piece of fruit, without having a lot of yogurt sitting on the bottom of the bowl. Toss lightly with a large spoon. You could also mix the yogurt with mayonnaise or sour cream to vary the taste. You could also use flavored yogurt such as vanilla or strawberry to add a sweeter, more fruity flavor.
  5. Finished.

Tips

  • Do it really fast. Don't wait long with fresh cut fruit to add lemon juice or dressing. It will begin to dry out or turn a dark color. This is harmless, but it doesn't look as nice.
  • Be sure to remove all the skin (depending on the fruit), seeds, etc. Nobody wants a bite of seed in their salad.
  • Mix a variety of fruits to get different colors and tastes. It will look and taste better.
  • Use yogurt, not some other product. Regular salad dressings such as Ranch, Green Goddess, Coleslaw, or Sesame Honey may not taste good.
  • This is a great way for children to help in the kitchen and learn basic cooking techniques.
