Make Hot Chocolate in the Microwave
Most hot chocolates are made with only cocoa powder, and unless you can get the finest quality (which can be expensive), contains hardly any real chocolate. For this recipe, all you need is a microwave and a few ingredients.
Ingredients
- 150 grams of your favorite chocolate bar (chopped)
- 600 mL of milk
- ground cinnamon
- sugar
- whipped cream
- extra goodies (mini marshmallows, chocolate chips/buttons, golden syrup, demerara sugar, chopped nuts, chocolate flakes)
Steps
- Pour the milk into a microwave-safe beaker or cup.
- Cook on the highest temperature for about 2 minutes.
- Pour in the chopped chocolate pieces and add about half a teaspoon of cinnamon.
- Cook again until the chocolate has completely melted.
- Whisk it until it is all smooth and frothy.
- Pour into three cups and add about a half of teaspoon of sugar into each of the mugs. Decorate with whipped cream.
- Add any extra goodies to each cup.
Tips
- You can substitute for soy or low-fat milk.
- You can also substitute the chocolate for white chocolate for a twist.
Warnings
- Chocolate, milk and cream in huge quantities over a long period of time can be bad for your health - so enjoy this super hot chocolate as an occasional treat!
- Don't let your milk boil over when waiting for the chocolate to melt.
- Be really careful when using a microwave! It can get seriously hot!
