[hide]Ingredients
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal (use any desired type of Rice Krispies)
- 3 tablespoons butter
- 1 (10 ounce) bag marshmallows or 40 mini marshmallows (4 cups)
- Non-stick cooking spray
Steps
- Gather the ingredients and items in the "Things You Need" section.
- Use a small bowl to microwave the butter for approximately ten seconds.
- Stir and heat it until it is completely melted.
- Use a large bowl to microwave the marshmallows for approximately thirty seconds at a time. Put a paper towel over the bowl just in case they enlarge. Depending on how many marshmallows you use and the size, it may take a little longer to melt them. Stir the marshmallow mixture each time you take it out.
- Pour the melted butter into the marshmallow mixture.
- Stir both ingredients together well.
- Pour the Rice Krispies one cup at a time into the mixture. Stir and cover all of the marshmallow mix with the cereal.
- Lightly spray non-stick cooking spray evenly inside of a rectangular baking pan.
- Transfer the Rice Krispies batter into the pan and spread the mixture evenly.
- Place the pan into the refrigerator for about 20 to 30 minutes to let it set.
- Cut into squares and serve!
Tips
- To make this treat minty, put a cup of small peppermint candies in the mixture.
- Don't put the marshmallows in the refrigerator before making Rice Krispies treats, they will get too hard.
- Original Rice Krispies or alternatively, chocolate flavoured Rice Krispies may be used.
- You can also treat this recipe like cookie dough and put the bowl in the refrigerator (skipping the pan step).
- Add your favorite candies like M&Ms to the mixture before spreading the mixture in the pan.
- If you want the recipe to be softer, add more marshmallows and double the amount of butter.
Warnings
- Don't use a small bowl for the marshmallows or it will overflow.
- Use a microwavable bowl.
