Make Scrambled Eggs in a Microwave

If you're tired of dealing with burnt saucepans and too much clutter in the kitchen or you're just looking for a faster way to make breakfast, scrambling eggs in a microwave is quick, easy, and it doesn't make a mess.

Ingredients

  • 2-3 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon of milk
  • 1 tablespoon of butter or cooking spray (optional)
  • Salt and pepper for taste (optional)

Steps

Microwaved scrambled eggs 1

  1. Spray or grease a microwave safe bowl with cooking spray or butter. If you do this, the egg batter will not stick to the bowl in the cooking process
  2. Crack eggs and pour a tablespoon of milk into the bowl.
  3. Whisk them together with a fork.
  4. Place in the microwave and cook for 1 minute on 100% power. Have caution since the bowl may be hot, so wear mitts. Remove, as they will be partially formed (see Warnings below). Use your fork and stir them gently, so that the uncooked blends in with the still loose egg. Set the eggs back in the microwave. You may also consider covering the bowl with a napkin to prevent any splatter.
  5. Microwave the eggs for 30 second intervals until you get a more solid than liquidy egg. Be sure not to overcook the eggs.
  6. Finished.

Microwaved scrambled eggs 2

  1. Spray the bowl with cooking oil.
  2. Crack the number of eggs needed into the bowl.
  3. Add a bit of milk.
  4. Whisk the eggs and milk together with a fork.
  5. Put in the microwave for 2 minutes but keep an eye on it.
  6. Mix the eggs gently.
  7. Put the bowl in the microwave and put on for 30 seconds.
  8. Plate up and enjoy.

Tips

  • Never cook with metal in a microwave. Use porcelain, glass or ceramic kitchenware.
  • Do not add salt until you are ready to eat the eggs. Adding it at the beginning will toughen the eggs.
  • The above instructions are for 2 eggs. Increase the cooking time for more eggs.
  • After the first minute, you need to keep an eye on the eggs to avoid overcooking.
  • Try mixing in a slice of cheese (in the beginning) for delicious cheesy goodness!
  • Just remember that if you want to eat the eggs with something else, but need to heat that item, microwave it separately from the eggs. The eggs will continue to cook and may turn crispy and brown while heating.
  • This dish makes a mess you should wrap in paper towel to keep from spreading in microwave.
  • Alternatively, put the eggs in a glass measuring jug.
  • These eggs won't taste exactly the same as if you were to cook them in a regular frying pan, but it's a fast way to do so without any additional dishes.
  • Adding melted cheese over the eggs after they are done cooking adds more flavor to them.
  • Water produces a lighter egg, while milk or cream produces a smoother, creamier egg. Personal preference is the deciding factor.
  • Put cheese in before microwaving it makes a yummy cheesy flavor.
  • Let the eggs cool and mix with mayonnaise for quick sandwiches.
  • Create a water bath and place the dish with the egg in the center of the water and then microwave. This will make for a perfect, quiche style dish. Mix in pesto for a delicious recipe idea.

Warnings

  • Use oven gloves or a cloth when handling.
  • Due to health concerns, always use a clean fork after placing the bowl back in the microwave before stirring the eggs again.
  • The bowl can get very hot or crack.
  • Never put metal in the microwave.
