Make Swiss Steak Using Canned Tomatoes
Swiss steak is a favorite with many people. Easy to make and tasty to eat, it's a great recipe to make and enjoy.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 lbs. round steak
- 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 tbsp. dry mustard
- 2 tbsp. olive oil
- 1 - 14 1/2 oz. can diced tomatoes
- 1 cup diced onion
- 1/2 cup diced celery
- 3 carrots, diced
- 2 tbsp. Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp. firmly packed brown sugar
- 1/2 tsp. salt
- 1/4 tsp pepper
Steps
- Mix flour and mustard. Sprinkle over steak.#Pound with a meat mallet.
- Cut steak into serving-size pieces.
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Heat oil in a heavy frying pan over medium-high heat.
- Add meat and cook, turning once, until meat is browned on both sides.
- Add tomatoes and their liquid, then remaining ingredients.
- Cover and bake until mixture starts to bubble.
- Reduce heat and continue to cook for about 1 1/2 hours.
- Finished.
