Make a Beaded Ribbon Bracelet

This simple bracelet is made using ribbon and a few beads and is an ideal project if you are looking for a unique piece of jewelry which will not take long to make or be expensive. Follow these simple steps for a great beaded ribbon bracelet.

Steps

  1. Cut a length of thin ribbon (roughly 3mm wide) that is long enough to wrap around your Get Small Bangles Onto Your Wrist twice.
  2. Fold the end of the wire back on itself to create a hook.
  3. Push the hook through one end of the ribbon and flatten it. The wire will act as a needle to help pull the ribbon through the beads.
  4. Thread your beads onto the ribbon using the wire hook that you created.
  5. Once all of the beads have been threaded onto the ribbon, cut off the end of the ribbon that is attached to the wire (usually this will have snagged the ribbon and simply removing the wire will leave the ribbon damaged).
  6. Tie a knot in both ends of the ribbon, and pull the bead on either side of the bracelet down to their corresponding knots. If you want to be able to take off the bracelet, purchase a clasp at a craft store and tie the ends of the ribbon onto the clasp.
  7. Knot the ribbon around your wrist or close the clasp.

Tips

  • You can flatten the wire (step 3) by hand, though it is often easier to just use a set of pliers to do this. Any pliers will do - you do not need specific jewelry making ones.
  • The ribbons sewn into some clothes to hold the item on the hanger while in store are ideal to use for this project.
  • Make sure the holes in the beads are not too small to pull the piece of ribbon through.

Warnings

  • Wire can be sharp, so do not allow children to attempt this without adult supervision. If you are worried, use larger beads through which the ribbon can be pulled by hand.

Things You'll Need

  • A thin piece of ribbon
  • 5 beads of your choice
  • A small piece of wire
