Steps
Using a Microwave
- Put a cup of water in the microwave to in a microwave safe cup. Cook the water until it reaches your desired temperature (will vary by microwave).
- Take a coffee filter, or a cheesecloth, and add 2 tablespoons of ground coffee beans.
- Fold the filter in half. Then turn a half turn and fold again until the coffee is contained in a ball.
- Flatten the folded top of the filter and force between the tines of a fork to hold the coffee in the filter.
- Remove your water from the microwave and steep the coffee for a few minutes while pressing the coffee bag against the side of the cup to help squeeze coffee from the bag.
- Finished.
Using a Binder Clip and Hot Water
- Pick one regular coffee filter and pour coffee grinds into it.
- Take a clip, a heavy-duty binder clip. Fold the coffee filter with the coffee in it, and clip on that clip to hold the coffee filter in place.
- If it's a magnet clip, you can attach it to your refrigerator side which is metal, and bring the cup with the boiling water and place it right below that clip with the attached filter.
- Steep the filter with the coffee in it for a few minutes. Wait until you see that the water caught some really good brown color.
- Remove the binder clip with the attached coffee filter. Add your favorite condiments: sugar, milk, flavorings etc. Stir and drink.
- Enjoy! And tell all your friends how easy it was to make this cup of coffee without a coffee machine. It's easy, it's hassle-free and you don't have to wash the dishes afterwards (well, except the cup, which you would anyway). It's just a clean, simple way of doing it.
Tips
- If you want, to get more out of the coffee grinds and save, you can boil the coffee grinds within the filter - in the water pot, and you don't have to hold the clip-attached filter. The magnet clip will attach to the side of the pot while simmering, because it's magnet, and just leave it in the pot on the stove while it's simmering.
Warnings
- Hold on to your cup while making it so as not to spill it while steeping and milking the bag for your coffee.
