Make a Kool Aid Purse

Want to try something a little different and reuse your waste instead of throwing it away? How about making a purse made from Kool-Aid packets? Other empty drink packets or envelopes are just as suitable.

Steps

  1. Buy packets or envelopes of Kool-Aid or any brand of powdered drink concentrate. Empty the packets into a large pitcher, add water and enjoy the drink. Save the packets to make your purse.
  2. Take strong thread and sewing needle, sew the empty packets together. You need to make about two sets of five packets. Sew them together at the sides. Use small, close stitches so that nothing will fall out.
  3. Make small stitches again, this time sewing the bottoms to each other. Then it will open like a book.
  4. Finish by sewing the four outer sides together. It will open just like a purse.
  5. Glue an interesting strip of cloth to the top or bottom of the purse (optional).
  6. Add a handle which can be made of the same cloth as the top decoration of the purse.
  7. Allow the glue to dry before putting things into your purse.
  8. Enjoy and have fun with your new purse.

Tips

  • You might want to buy the powdered concentrates by the box. You will probably get more packets, for less cost.
  • This would be a nice project to work on, and give as gifts to friends.
  • Vary the look of each purse, by using all of one color envelope for one purse, and using various colors together for another purse. Mix and match them for other looks,
  • Make sure that the glue is dry before using the purse.

Things You'll Need

  • Furry strip (any color) (optional)
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Packets of Kool-Aid, or similar juice packets (any color)
  • Thread (any color)
  • Sewing needle
