Make a Picture Frame out of Eyeglasses
Gather all those old reading glasses you have taking up space in drawers. No matter the size or shape of the frame, you can turn them into cute picture frames. Adorn a wall with them, and create an eye-catcher in any room.
Steps
- Remove the arms of the glasses with the mini screwdriver.
- Cut a 15" (38 cm) piece of fishing line. Thread the line through each side of the glasses where the arms were once attached.
- Make a template to cut out your photos. On a piece of scrap paper, trace around one lens. Cut along the line you drew. Hold it behind the glass lens to see if it fits properly. If it doesn't, adjust it until it does. Sometimes you'll need to trim off about 1/8" (.317 cm) around the edge.
- Use the template to cut out the photos. Flip the template over and use it for the other side of the glasses.
- Use a small amount of clear tape to hold your photos in place.
- Hang it on your wall and focus in on your new creation!
- Finished.
Tips
- Start collecting frames from friends or relatives. Makes a great gift idea or stocking stuffer.
- Use them to track the growth of a child. Start with a small frame with the picture of a baby. As the child grows, add their picture into another little larger sized frame and follow their growth and development.
- Sunglasses work great, since the lens is usually larger than regular glasses.
