Make a Puppet Theater from a Box

Recycle a box and make it into a puppet theater. A fun project for children. Continue reading to get to know how to make a puppet theater and then enjoy the entertainment and have fun.

Steps

  1. Get a big cardboard box (appliance boxes work best) and stand it on end. It should be able to stand by itself. Or you can use the bottom of a TV box as the bottom of the puppet theater in to make it more secure. The children will stand on the lid of the box when they use it.
  2. Cut a rectangle at the top of the bottom part of the box.
  3. You can hot glue a good piece of fabric or other material to make a curtain for the window part you cut out. Use a red piece of cloth for a good addition to the theater.
  4. Decorate the box! Paint the front and sides a light tan. Then sponge paint it, so it looks like bricks. Paint a vine going up the side and hot glue silk flowers to it. Paint grass and hot glue flowers around the bottom of the theater as well. You could decorate the theater to go with whatever theme that inspires you. A barn if you have a western theme, a boat if you have a nautical theme. The ideas are endless and fun. Children love to play in it. Even big kids, so retelling with this theater will spark their interest. Just use your creativity and make the puppet theater your very own.
  5. Have fun with your new Puppet Theater and hold out weekly shows for your audience to enjoy.

  • Make sure there is enough room for both hands and maybe even 2-3 pairs of hands! Then you could make a show with lots of other people involved.
