Make a Cardboard Box Spaceship

Have you ever wanted to travel through space? Now you can, in your imagination. Get ready to zoom through the spaceway as soon as you are finished!

Steps

  1. Find a box. Boxes that a toilet or refrigerator come in are best. Try to get one that was opened on one of the long sides. That gives you a place to shuffle your feet.
  2. Cut off any unnecessary flaps if desired.
  3. Paint the inside of your box all grey, except for the front panel. Paint this black for your window. You may wish to paint grey on the lower part of the panel, also.
  4. Use glow paints to add details to your spaceship. You may wish to paint planets, spaceships, and other space things also.
  5. Add a broken computer joystick as a steering stick. Be sure to clip the wire off first.
  6. Congratulations! You are finished!

Tips

  • Feel free to customize your spaceship anyway you want. Use old computer keys as 3-D buttons, maybe.
  • You should lay down newspaper before painting your spaceship.
  • When you get in your ship, the side that the box was opened from should be on the bottom. That way you can shuffle your feet to move your ship.
  • You probably should not decorate the outside of your ship. You'll be sitting on the inside, after all.

Warnings

  • Be careful with scissors, paint, etc.
  • Be careful when moving your ship while inside of it. You could easily break something fragile or fall down stairs. You might want to make a small hole in the front to look through.
  • Make sure the old computer joystick is actually broken!
  • Do not blame the author of this article for any injury that may occur when using these instructions or the product of these instructions.
