Make a Smart Comeback
One of the hardest things for young people to deal with during high school is insults and how to make a comeback to one. What are the right words to say to someone? Before you go ahead and say something back, you need to make yourself seem more intelligent then the person insulting you!
Steps
- Get your questions out of the way.
- Come prepared.
- Know if it's right to insult back. If it's someone you have been bullying, then just apologize and leave the person alone
- Don't try being friends with the person if they have disrespected you or made some pretty harsh insults.
- Make yourself seem smarter, try using more advanced vocabulary and knowing the right words to say.
- Don't use childish insults like "I know you are, but what am I?" Or "Have you looked in the mirror?"
- Know when to end it. Make sure you try to end it as fast as possible, but at the same time, making the person leave you alone.
- Look at the person. Use any fake images against them (Ex. Makeup, hair, etc.)
- Ignore the person but also make sure they know who they´re talking to. Show them who is boss!!
- Listen to everything they say! It's important because you can sometimes prove them wrong, or use it against them, etc.
Scenarios
Here are some good comebacks: If they...
- Talk behind your back: "If you have something to say, say it to my face, not behind my back." (If they say "I have nothing to say"...) "Wow, you can say it behind my back, but you can't say it to my face? Then I'm not scared of you." OR "That just tells me that I can stand up compared to someone who's scared to." OR/AND "Fine, I don't care what you say about me, but I don't like it, if other people think that I'm someone I'm not, because of you. I'm tired of your crap, and it's getting old, and I'm not putting up with it." (You can end the argument there.)
- Calls you an insulting name: "Give me one reason why I am?" (ONLY ASK IF IT'S NOT TRUE) (If they can't, laugh and...) "Wow, you say that I am a (insulting name) yet, you can't even give me a reason why? Maybe you shouldn't be so ignorant, and know the facts."
SMART COMEBACKS: If someone says/calls...
- You are loser: "Even if I am a loser, you don't have the right to judge me the way you do, and if you have to go out of your way to make me look bad, then that just tells me that I'm a lot better than you are!" OR "Yeah well, at least I don't have to wear buckets of makeup like someone who's fake, and that's what you are, a cheap winner."
- You a name (ex: bitch): "You know, I don't go up to people and call them (name of insult), because it's not my derogatory term and it's trashy. The reason you'd even call me that, tells me that you're ignorant, un-classy, and practically illiterate. Get your facts straight, because you don't even know the definition of (name of insult)."
- You're a waste of my time: (Sometimes picking out an important quote/word from what they've said and using it against them, makes them look stupid) "If I'm such a waste of your time, why do you waste your time then? You seem to waste your time talking behind my back, you seem to waste your time making yourself look better then me. It's time that you get out of my life, and move on with yours" (You can end it there.)
- I'm better then you: "You're better then me? Why do you try to make me look so bad, if you're better then me? You have a nasty personality that needs to change, if you go ahead and do what you do to people, then you have no class. And if the opposite of what I said, to you is what a better person is, then you must really be ignorant and full of yourself."
- Getting to end it:
- But also "I have more important things to do, than thinking about what you have to say to me. What you do and say to people is so heartless of you. You're full of yourself, and you don't care about anyone. You're not human, you're a black hole that sucks the life out of people, and I'm done with you. I don't need to waste my time with someone who's worthless, because I'm better then that. I don't treat people the way you do, because I know that giving insults to people, and showing no class, shows how much of a person you really are, and how worthless you are of anyone's time."
- These are some that will show the person, that you can be more clever-witted then they are.
Tips
- To get your point across, talk in a calm voice, have a straight face, and make full eye contact.
- After making a comeback, stare at them silently like you are challenging them until they look away.

- Don't repeat sentences over and over!
- Don't raise your voice, remember to make yourself seem cooler.
