Make a Square Knotted Friendship Bracelet

Square knots are really easy and fun to make. Twine can be good because you can see the cool pattern it has. However, you can use any type of string. This example uses twine!

Steps

  1. Cut 2 pieces of 72" twine. tie an overhand knot to make a 1" loop.
  2. If you were using colored string you would need to arrange them in a certain order, light, dark, light, dark.
  3. There are two parts to making the "square knots", on part one to make the first knot the right cord goes under the two center cords and over the right cord and pull as if you were starting to tie your shoe.
  4. This is part two of making a square knot, to make the second knot the left (this is the right cord on step 3) cord goes over the center cords and under the left cords. the right (this would be the left cord on step 3) goes under the center cords and over the left cord and pull again as if you were tying your shoe.
  5. Repeat steps 3 and 4 to the desired length.

Tips

  • Tie tight knots, as it will make for a neater bracelet.
  • It would be easier to use a clip board or a safety pin but tape could do(like masking tape).
  • You should try to use thick string if you want to see the pattern

Warnings

  • Make sure you are switching the sides on step 3 and 4!(right,left,right,left,etc...)
