Make a Strawberry Mojito
A strawberry mojito is a terrific summer drink. It’s as colorful as it is refreshing.
Ingredients
Servings: 1
- 3 to 4 fresh strawberries, de-stemmed (hulled) and cut into small pieces
- 1 lime, cut into quarters
- 3 sprigs of mint
- 1 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 2 oz. (60 ml) rum
- Splash of club soda
- Ice
Steps
- Fill the cocktail shaker with the strawberries.
- Add the lime.
- Add the mint sprigs. Only use the mint leaves and discard the stems.
- Add the sugar.
- Use a muddler or a blunt kitchen utensil (like the handle-end of a spoon) to mash the ingredients together until they mix into a mash.
- Fill the shaker with crushed ice, directly on top of the fruit and mint pieces.
- Add the rum. You should see the liquid rise almost to the surface of the ice.
- Cover and shake well.
- Pour into a tall glass.
- Top off with a splash of club soda.
- Garnish with a fresh strawberry, stem still intact. It's now ready for serving.
Tips
- To get the full effect of the colorful ingredients, serve in a tall glass.
- Dip the glass rim in lime juice and then sugar to get tangy flavor.
- Extra strawberries and mint sprigs can be used as a garnish.
Warnings
- Be sure to smash the fruit finely enough; small chunks left in a drink can be a choking hazard because the drinker is not expecting solids.
