Make a Taco Pie

This taco pie brings a unique taste and special delight to the table. It can be served for any occasion, whether it's supper or for a halftime meal at a football party.

Ingredients

Serves 8

  • 1 (8 ounces) refrigerated croissant roll can or package or soft tortilla shells
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 can refried beans
  • 1 (1 ounce) taco seasoning mix package
  • 1 (16 ounces) sour cream
  • 8 ounces shredded Mexican-style cheese blend
  • 1 (14.5 ounces) tortilla chips package, crushed

Steps

  1. Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees F or 175 degrees C.
  2. Cover the bottom of a small cake pan or casserole dish with the croissant roll dough or soft tortilla shells. Bake this according to the time stated on the dough package.
  3. Use a medium to large skillet and brown the ground beef. Drain the juices and add the taco seasoning mix and refried beans. Stir the meat in the seasoning so it will cover thoroughly.
  4. Remove the croissants from the oven. Layer the meat on the croissants. Smooth out a layer of sour cream on top of the meat. Sprinkle the cheese next.
  5. Crush the tortilla chips into pieces. Add the crushed pieces as the last layer of the pie.
  6. Place it back in the oven for an additional 10 minutes or until the cheese has melted.
