Make an Espresso Martini

Like other coffee products, Make an Espresso Like Starbucks can be an excellent boost in cocktails and liqueur drinks. If you want an eye opener and a kick in your next smooth drink, try an espresso martini.

Ingredients

  • Version 1[1]
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) cold espresso
  • 1 1/2 ounces (45 ml) Absolut vodka
  • 1 1/2 ounces (45 ml) Kahlua coffee liqueur
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) white crème de cacao
  • Version 2[2]
  • 1 1/2 ounces (45 ml) vodka
  • 1 1/2 ounces (45 ml) Kahlua coffee liqueur
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) Bailey's Irish cream
  • 3 ounces (90 ml) espresso
  • Version 3[3]
  • 1 1/2 ounces (45 ml) Stolichnaya (Stoli)  vanilla
  • 1 1/2 ounces (45 ml) Kahlua coffee liqueur
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) crème de cacao
  • 1 shot (30 ml) Pull a Shot of Espresso
  • Version 4 (Former cocktail bartender)
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) Vodka (Belvedere or Grey Goose are recommended)
  • 1 ounce (30ml) Kahlua
  • 1.5 ounces (45ml) Espresso
  • 1/2 ounce (15ml) of sugar syrup if you like it sweeter (I leave it out)

Steps

Method 1

  1. Fill a cocktail shaker halfway with ice cubes.
  2. Measure and all ingredients to the shaker.
  3. Place a lid on and shake well. You'll know when it's thoroughly combined when condensation forms on the outside of the shaker.
  4. Strain into a martini glass and enjoy.
  5. Finished.

Method 2

  1. Fill your martini glass with ice and soda water to chill it down
  2. Add vodka and kahlua to the shaker.
  3. If you like it sweeter add sugar syrup here. If you don't have sugar syrup you can add sugar to the hot coffee before you chill it down.
  4. Extract the fresh espresso (if you have a Nespresso or similar pod coffee machine this works well, you can also use strong plunger (French Press) coffee if need be, but espresso is recommended) - once the coffee is extracted add a lot of ice to the coffee to chill it down - you should add enough ice to the cup that the coffee is chilled quickly and the ice doesn't all melt
  5. Add ice to the shaker to halfway (your vodka and kahlua are already in there)
  6. Strain out the coffee into the shaker (we don't want the partially melted ice)
  7. Put the lid on the shaker and shake VERY vigorously for about 30 seconds- this should create a creamer on top
  8. Tip soda water and ice out of martini glass and and give it a little shake to remove excess water
  9. Strain contents of shaker into martini glass straight away
  10. Garnish with 3 coffee beans on top (chocolate covered ones are yummy!!)
