Make an Indian Tea

Indian tea is very healthy, especially during the winter as it contains natural neutralizers such as ginger, cardamom, etc. Indian tea is very, very different from the various kinds of tea that are taken in other parts of the world. Indian tea has a very large proportion of milk in it compared to its other contents.

Ingredients

Cardamom basil Indian tea:

  • For making a cup of tea (250ml), you will need...
  • Milk (200 ml).
  • Water (20 ml).
  • Some good quality of Indian Tea (tea leaves are preferred)
  • Cardamom (elaichi)
  • Sugar to taste
  • Basil leaves (tulsi)
  • Ginger flakes

Fennel Indian tea:
Makes 3 cups

  • 3 teabags ordinary tea
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoon fennel seeds
  • 1.5 cups water
  • 1.5 cups milk

Steps

Cardamom basil Indian tea

  1. Take a pan, and add water, tea or tea leaves, and add sugar to it.
  2. Put the burner on low flame.
  3. Heat the tea until it turns a reddish brown colour.
  4. Take Basil leaves and ginger flakes, crush them together, and add this to the mixture.
  5. Add milk and crushed cardamom to the mixture.
  6. Increase the flame.
  7. Stop the burner when the milk rises to the top of the pan.
  8. Filter all the solid out.
  9. Serve hot with biscuits or snacks or cakes.

Fennel Indian tea

  1. Pour the water into a saucepan.
  2. Add three teabags and the sugar. Also add the fennel seeds.
  3. Simmer over medium heat.
  4. Add the milk to the simmering tea. Cook for five minutes or until the seeds rise to the top of the water and milk mixture.
  5. Remove from the heat.
  6. Strain into three cups or mugs. Serve with cookies or Indian sweets.



Tips

  • To make strong tea, use milk and water in the same quantity.
  • The best time to drink tea is during evening hours and at the morning time.
  • Tea can also be taken with almost all kinds of Indian Foods.
  • When making tea for children, one should use only milk and/or decrease the tea content.
  • To add more flavor one can use Aniseed/Fennel seeds, i.e Saunf.

Warnings

  • Do not drink large portions of this form of tea at any given time.
  • Do not let children drink this.
