Open the Service Menu on LG Phones

Do you want to open up hidden features on your Verizon Wireless LG model cellphone? Using the service menu you can unlock hidden sections and enable new features for some of LG’s phones. Warning: this may severely damage your phone if you change certain settings. So do be careful!

Steps

Entering Service Mode

  1. Open your phone. Power it up so that the main screen is displayed.
  2. Learn how to enter Service mode from an LG enV—Silver
    • From the phone’s menu, press 0
    • Press ##LGSERVICEMENU and then click SEND
    • enter 000000 when prompted to input the service code.
  3. Learn how to enter Service mode from an LG enV—Orange and Green
    • On the keypad, enter ##PROGRAM9900 and then press SEND.
      • Enter 000000 when prompted to input the service code.
  4. Learn how to enter Service mode from an vx8500
    • From the phone’s menu, press 0, and then enter 000000 when prompted to input the service code.
  5. Learn how to enter Service mode from an vx8550
    • From the phone’s menu, press ##PROGRAM8550 and then press SEND.
      • Enter 000000 when prompted to input the service code.
  6. Learn how to enter Service mode from an vx8800
    • From the phone’s menu, press ##PROGRAM8880 and then press SEND.
      • Enter 000000 when prompted to input the service code.
  7. Learn how to enter Service mode from an vx10000
    • From the phone’s menu, press ##PROGRAM10000 and then press SEND.
      • Enter 000000 when prompted to input the service code.
  8. Learn how to enter Service mode from an vx9700
    • On the keypad, enter ##PROGRAM9700 and then press SEND.
      • Enter 000000 when prompted to input the service code.

Using the Service Menu

  1. Learn what to do, when you have reached the menu that reads "Services" with a menu similar to the following:
    • Data
    • SMS
    • H/W Test
    • FCC Test
    • WAP Setting
    • Get It Now Settings
    • Audio Setting
    • Battery Test
    • Music Setting
  2. Open the mp3 section if desired. Go to Music Settings. After you have followed the above instructions, go to Music Setting and press the OK button.
    • Select MP3 & MPD. Press the OK button again.
    • Now, when you access Get Tunes & Tones, two more options labeled My MP3s and My MP3 Playlists will be added at the bottom of the list.
  3. Enable the hidden GSP setting if desired. This is available on the LG enV. Open Field Tests. From the Service Menu, go to the Field Tests option and press the OK button.
    • Open the GPS section. Go to the GPSOne option and press the OK button.
    • Enter test mode. Press OK to go into the gpsOne Test Screen and set it to On.
    • Go into the option labeled NV and then gpsOne Lock.
    • Set it to "mobile".
    • Enable the GPS. Go back to the original gpsOne menu and click option 4, Start Application.’
    • The screen should flash.
    • Make a note. Select the second option labeled Test Num and write down the number that appears.
    • Find your location. Go to your home screen (where you can see your wallpaper) and dial the number you wrote down. Your current latitude and longitude should be displayed.



Warnings

  • Changing values that you don't have knowledge about in the service menu may damage your phone and void your warranty.
  • The functionality of the Hidden GPS system varies from place to place. For example, in Atlanta, Ga.; Charlotte, N.C.; and in Washington, D.C.; it reaches 911.
