Overcome Boredom After Retirement

Are you retired? Is it boring? This article offers some ideas for overcoming boredom in retirement.

Steps

  1. Go far and wide. Everyone has a dream place to go and spend a vacation. Travel the world in search of your dream place if you haven't found it yet. (If you have, it wouldn't hurt to have two.)
  2. Avoid the social life. It's good not to be so "social" that the spontaneity goes out of your life. Socializing can be entertaining. Just try not to let it become your daily focus.
  3. Adopt hobbies. Find something you enjoy doing, such as photography, drawing, or physical training. These may be fulfilling.
  4. Spend time with friends and family. Catch up with old friends, or organize a college reunion. Spend time with your family. Go to a park or natural landmark together for fun and recreation.
  5. Read and write. Read a novel or write your own, and publish it on your own blog. Research and write an article for wikiHow.
  6. Cook. Cooking is a boredom-buster. Beyond normal cooking, try new recipes. Master Thai or other foreign cuisine. If you haven't cooked much in the past, this can give you a whole, new zest for life.
