Pick a Topic to Rap About

Learn how to write great raps by choosing the best topics for your raps. This article will teach you how to write a rap song.

Steps

Think about subjects that interest you. Usually something with an emotional tie to it. Your audience of listeners will need to relate to whatever topic you pick to rap about.
Pick at least 5 topics that you would think about rapping about. In order to get the best rap you need to have enough content to include.
Now you will need to narrow down the topics you chose to the best two topics. Out of those two topics you need to look at each and write down as many thoughts about each as you can. And the one that you come up with the most thoughts about then that is the topic you should chose to rap about.
Now that you have your topic and a few thoughts about the topic to write about you can start to lay out your rap song. If you have a beat or instrumental to rap to then play the instrumental 1 or 2 times and let the beat give you inspiration. Once you come up with your first line then the rest will fall into place. If you get writers block during the process then take a 5 minute break and come back to the rap. Leave the place that you are writing in for that 5 minutes to refresh your mind.

Never throw away a rap that you have written. Try not to ever throw away anything you write even if it is just one line.
Keep a 5 subject notebook to write your raps in.
Organise your raps based on the type of raps you are writing such as love raps, club raps, radio raps, gangster raps, etc.
If you scrap a rap and don't want to write any more then flip to the next empty page.
Also when recording a song don't ever erase any vocals even ad-libs or double ups.
