Prepare Wooden Skewers
Wooden skewers are used for a variety of foods as kebabs (kabobs), or for other barbecue methods. The skewers need to be prepared properly to prevent splintering or brittleness during cooking.
Steps
- Soak the wooden Make Skewered Potato and Zucchini Parcels. Place them in a bowl of cold water. Leave them there for 10 to 15 minutes.
- Prepare the food to be skewered while the skewers are sitting in the water. Have the food ready to go.
- Remove the skewers from the water and lay them on a paper towel. This will absorb any excess water.
- Slide the food onto the kebab as usual.
- Place on the barbecue or grill and cook. The moistened skewers will not char or burn. However, if you notice the ends have dried out a bit and are catching on fire, you can wrap kitchen foil around them to prevent this.
