Preserve the Paint on You Car
In Pre historic times wax was needed for its protective and physical qualities. Basically used on wood, it served as a water resistant barrier. Years later in the Pre acrylic age wax along the polish was used on modern vehicle paint. Today Acrylic paints are not designed to be polished and wax only serves to cover and dull the factory finish. The key thing to remember in the preservation of new paint it to avoid all unnecessary friction, this includes buffing of wax and use of abrasive polish. Don't confuse paint restoration with paint preservation. Different tools are need for different jobs.
Steps
- Pure liquid and non abrasive is the combination that you must put together to preserve your paint.
- Choose from a variety of products that do not contain any wax.
- The product must not contain any polish
- Most importantly the product must state that is has no abrasives in its formula and be applied in a spray/mist form.
- Stay away from any polish, paste, creams, and rubbing compounds.
- Wash your car with clear water and a grease cutting liquid soap.
- Begin at the top hose the car down.
- Use a bucket of soapy water and soft brush and start at the top.
- Hose the car down as you are scrubbing it with the brush.
- Do not allow the soapy water to dry.
- Do the sides, front, back and finally the lower area closest to the ground.
- Take a soft towel and dry vehicle.
- Allow vehicle time to completely dry before the next step.
- Starting with a clean dry towel on clean dry paint.
- Apply the spray conditioner sparingly to the top of the vehicle and spread it out.
- Acrylic conditioners are absorbed into the paint and have an application spread rate of 10 to 1 in area sprayed to area covered.
- Do not over saturate your paint.
- After completing the top follow the same conditioning pattern as when washing, finishing at the bottom.
- The total application time for a spray mist conditioner is under 10 minutes per vehicle.
- Conditioners do not harden and will continue to add conditioning strength to the paint days after the application.
- The effects will last for months, vehicle easily clean up with just water. No soap is needed when using a true acrylic paint conditioner.

- Reapply once a month and your factory shine will last longer than with any wax or polish being sold today.
Tips

- You will find a wider assortment of products on line than you will at any auto store.
- Product must be waterless, waterproof and therefore rust resistant.
- Never put a power buffer on your painted surface.
- Micro fiber towels is just another name for Terry cloth so save your money and use old bath towels.
- Conditioners require a curing time of 24 hrs before they are truly waterproof. check weather before applying.
- Conditioners are also excellent for removing oxidation from the paint of older vehicles, Oxidation removal should be one of the advertised abilities of a true acrylic paint conditioner.
- Always follow individual products instruction for the best results.
- Always start with a clean vehicle and clean towels.
- Product must specify monthly application.
