Quickly Straighten Hair for School
Stick straight hair can be easily obtained at home, using a simple commercial flat iron. Read on to find out a very quick and easy way to do this in time for school!
Steps
- Purchase a flat iron. Sometimes they are simply called "straighteners". They are simply a clamp, with two metal or ceramic plates near the top of the clamp. They usually plug in to the wall, and the plates really heat up.
- Shower and wash your hair the night before, considering your hair needs to be really dry. If you think you will have time to COMPLETELY dry your hair in the morning, then wash it.
- Use a protector. They usually come in sprays, and they protect your hair from heat. In the long run, this can save your hair from getting fried, and therefore wrecked.
- Plug in the straightener. Wait for it to totally heat.
- While you're waiting, tie the top half of your hair up, so you have separated it into two layers.
- Spray your hair with the protector. Let it dry.
- Take a small section of hair from the bottom layer and clamp the straightener near the top, and slowly slide it down the section. You may need to go through once or twice, until it is pretty straight.
- Repeat, until all of your hair is straightened, then take down the top half and repeat on this layer. You may want to be extra carefully with the top half, because this is the one everyone will see the most.
- Brush or comb the layers together, and finish with some hair- and/or shine spray, if you wish.
- Finished.
Tips
- If you see your hair start to smoke, don't worry. its just the moisture from your hair leaving, and turning into steam, not smoke.
- Make sure your hair is completely dry before straightening it. Wet hair would fry under the heat.
Warnings
- DO NOT MOVE THE IRON TOO SLOW!!!! This will burn your hair, and it won't get it any straighter then if you go at a medium constant speed. And don't move too fast, either because it won't straighten easy.
