Recover Deleted Photos on Your Samsung Galaxy

Nowadays, Samsung Galaxy phones are wildly popular. As it often happens, you may accidentally delete precious photos. You may have done so while tinkering with your phone’s many features or while you’re busy doing too many things at once. Whatever the case, rest assured that those photos are not completely erased from your device’s memory. In fact, they’re still lying somewhere in your phone’s internal memory or in your SD card. Lose them, find them, but do make haste!

Steps

Recovering Photos from Your Backup

  1. Go through your backup. Do so if you are in the habit of backing up at fixed intervals data stored in your device. Check your SD Card, phone memory, Google Plus, and your photo apps.
    • Always back up your files so that you can restore deleted data rapidly and easily.
  2. Restore your photos. Just click on the backup file, and select Restore. This will get back your supposedly lost data.

Restoring Photos via Samsung Kies

  1. Recall if you have ever installed Samsung Kies. Those deleted photos may also be recovered through the Samsung Kies software that you may have installed on your PC as backup. If you are indeed using Samsung Kies, then you can easily restore the backup.
  2. Open Samsung Kies on your PC. Once it’s up, click on the Back up/Restore tab found near the Menu bar.
  3. Click on “Restore Data. It should be to the left of the screen.
  4. Choose the photos to be restored. You will most probably see a whole lot of backup files in there. Just choose the items you want back from the drop-down list by ticking them off with check marks.
  5. Click on the “Restore” button. It should be at the top-right portion of the software screen.
  6. Click on “Complete. Do so only when your photos have been totally recovered and restored.
    • You will then see a dialog box with “Restored Successfully” written on it, and your phone will restart.

Restoring Photos via Android Data Recovery

  1. Download the Android Data Recovery software. If there’s no backup available, you can still recover the deleted photos locally using the Android Data Recovery software. Just download, install and run it.
    • Android Data Recovery is available for free trial for both Windows and Mac versions here: http://androiddatarecovery.co. It can be very useful for recovering any lost or deleted data (and not just photos), and save them on your computer.
  2. Connect your Samsung Galaxy phone to your PC. Plug the ends of the USB cable into your Samsung Galaxy phone and into the USB port of your computer.
  3. Enable USB debugging. Once you’ve connected your phone and computer, the software will ask you to “Enable USB debugging” as per the following instructions particular to your device’s OS.
    • For Android 2.3 OS and older, tap on “Settings” and select “Applications.” Afterwards, click on “Development,” and then tick off USB Debugging.
    • For Android 3.0 to 4.1 OS, tap on “Settings,” select “Developer Options,” and tick off “USB debugging.”
    • For Android 4.2 OS or newer, tap on “Settings” and select “About Phone.” Then tap on “Build Number” seven times or until the message “You are under developer mode” pops up. Go back to Settings, select “Developer options,” and tick off USB Debugging.
  4. Let the software search for deleted photos. Once the Android Data Recovery software detects your device, click the green “Start” button, select “Scan for deleted files,” and you will get a message to select “Allow” to let the software analyze and scan deleted photos and data on your phone.
    • On the screen that appears after you clicked on “Allow,” tick off the data types that you want to scan, analyze and recover. For example, you can select Gallery to scan, analyze and recover photos.
  5. Restore the deleted photos to your computer. Select the files you want to restore by simply clicking on the “Recover” button to save them on your PC.
    • When the entire recovery process is completed, you can view the restored photos on your computer without any restrictions.

Tips

  • The Android Data Recovery software supports not only Samsung Galaxy phones, but it also helps recover data for other Android devices such as HTC, Gionee, Huawei, and more.
  • Deleted data will be preserved safely in your Samsung Galaxy phone until and unless they’re overwritten by new data, so avoid using your phone whenever data loss happens. Also, do not take new photos and videos just yet as to prevent deleted data to be overwritten.
