Remove Locking Lug Nuts

Lost the key to your locking lug nuts? Here is how to get the locking lug nuts off without the key and save money from a costly tow.

Steps

Check to see if the key to your locking lug nuts is in your glove box, middle console, trunk area, or even under your seats. It may also be found under the spare tire.
Take the socket set and see what size will fit over the locking lug nut. A 12 point socket works best. There are special sockets designed for locking lug nut removal.
Use the socket that is the next size smaller, and place it on the lug nut.
Use the mallet and hammer the socket over the lug nut.
When you have hammered the socket over the lug nut, then use the breaker bar to remove the locking lug nut.
Repeat if necessary.

Be sure that you do not hit the rim of the tire.
Call the dealership for the key if you have factory-installed locking lug nuts. When you contact the dealer, ask if they have a master set of locking lug nuts so you can order the correct one. If the locking lug nuts are after market, you will have to find a way to remove them.
