Remove Melted Crayon from Car Seats

Almost everyone with children will one day find an abandoned crayon melted onto their car's upholstery. But don't worry, you aren't doomed to have multi-colored seats covered in wax. Use the tips below to get your car back to its original condition.

Steps

  1. Scrape as much of the crayon off as possible. If the crayon is warm and hard to scrape, freeze it with an ice cube. Use a butter knife, or even a spoon to carefully scrape as much off as possible.
  2. Use a hair dryer or iron. Cover the spot with a paper bag, towel or rag. Gently iron on medium or low heat setting.
  3. Use WD-40. Spray the spot with WD-40. Let it soak for a few minutes, then rub in thoroughly. Use a damp cloth to wipe up all residue.
  4. Use a grease-fighting dish soap. Dab the dish soap onto the spot and let it sit for a few minutes. Rub it thoroughly, then wipe up using a damp cloth.
  5. Use upholstery cleaner. Different brands of stain removing upholstery cleaner will have different instructions, so read the container carefully.
  6. Use baking soda. Sprinkle baking soda over the stain. Rub in thoroughly. Vacuum area.
  7. Finished.
