Get Candle Wax off a Sofa
So your kids have been playing with candle wax, and now it's all on your sofa and it won't scratch off? Solve this pesky problem and get candle wax off a sofa.
Steps
- Take out the brown paper.
- Lay it on top of the wax.
- Take an iron on a low setting and iron it over the brown paper.
- Repeat this until the wax has all come off onto the paper. You may need to use more than one piece of brown paper to avoid ironing back in the wax.
Tips
- Place towels on the sofa if you are worried that you may accidentally drop the iron while using it. Better that than burning a hole and making the damage much worse!
- Don't have the iron on too high a setting. This may damage the fabric and cause the wax to run onto other parts of the sofa.
- If your sofa is very valuable and the fabric is liable to be damaged by heat, call a professional cleaner to come and fix it immediately.
Warnings
- Use caution when applying the iron to avoid burns.
- Keep children away from your vicinity while you do this; there is always the slight possibility that you may drop the iron.
- Do not do this on leather sofas or polyvinyl; only on fabric sofas.
Things You'll Need
- Brown craft paper (the type used for wrapping parcels)
- A clothes iron
