Clean Crayon off Painted Walls

Upon returning to the living room after answering the phone, you find that the toddler you left coloring peacefully in his Thomas the Tank Engine coloring book has decided his canvas is too small to express his artistic genius and has resorted to using the walls instead. Crayon is tough to remove from walls but now you can remove Baby Picasso's latest crayon masterpiece with ease.

Steps

  1. Grab a blow dryer.
  2. Plug it in nearby and aim it at the crayon marks on low heat for a few seconds. The wax should melt.
  3. Wipe off with a damp cloth.

Alternate Method

  1. On your next trip to the local grocery store, purchase a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser.
  2. Apply a small amount of water to the Magic Eraser and ring it dry.
  3. Rub the Magic Eraser on the wall to remove the crayon markings.

Tips

  • It would be wise to hide any Sharpies laying around.
  • The Magic Eraser also works for plastic chairs, tables, etc.
  • Use the damp cloth straight after the blow dryer as the wax tends to dry as fast as it melts.
  • It's better to keep the blow dryer at least an inch from the wall.
  • Hairspray also works well to remove the rest of the stain.
  • To prevent this from happening again, reiterate that crayons are for coloring books but not walls, faces, siblings, animals, or expensive electronics.

Warnings

  • Do not scrub your wall too hard or the paint will come off.
  • Don't spray too much hairspray
  • Wait until the wall cools off before applying hairspray
  • Don't use hairspray near the hot dryer
