Remove Yellowing from White Appliances
Through exposure to light, food chemicals and other items in the house, some white appliances can take on a slightly yellowed look. While this doesn't impact the performance of the appliance, it can make its appearance less desirable. This article suggests a method for removing the yellowing.
Steps
- Assemble the items needed. These are listed below under "Things You'll Need". Put on your gloves to protect your skin from the drying harshness of the bleach.
- Mix together the bleach, baking soda and warm water.
- Dip a sponge into the mixture. Wipe the mixture over the yellowed areas of the appliance with the sponge.
- Leave the mixture on the yellowed area for 10 minutes.
- Rinse off after 10 minutes and allow to dry completely before reusing.
Tips
- Repeat the process if any of the yellowing does not come off with the first application.
- Be aware that sun or heat damaged plastic may be so badly discolored and brittle that it cannot be restored by this method.
