Steps
Rubbing Alcohol, Vinegar, and Hydrogen Peroxide Solution
- Mix together the following ingredients in a large bowl:
- Rubbing alcohol
- Vinegar
- Hydrogen peroxide
- Shake well and pour a small amount of the mixture onto the stain. Make sure that the cloth won't get damaged or faded.
- Let it sit for 1 hour. If the stain is still obvious after an hour, keep checking every half hour until the stain is sufficiently faded.
- Dry the area with a washcloth or rag.
- Rub the stain away.
Dishwashing Detergent and White Vinegar Solution
- Blot - not rub - as much of the stain off of the carpet as possible.
- In a bowl, pour in 1 tablespoon of liquid dishwashing detergent.
- Add 1 tablespoon of white vinegar.
- Add 2 cups of warm water.
- Once you have scrubbed off the stain with the mixture, sponge the area with cold water. Let it dry.
Baby Powder and Cornstarch or Baking Soda Solution
- Blot the stain with a paper towel to get rid of as much grease as possible. (This method is for removing grease stains.)
- Put baby powder on the area to absorb the grease.
- Brush off the powder after a few minutes.
- If you'd like, sprinkle some cornstarch or baking soda onto the area.
Tips
- Try not to let the hydrogen peroxide (in the first method) sit too long, or peroxide may damage the stained area.
- Beer can also be used to remove stains. But you don't have to use this.
Warnings
- Use these chemicals carefully. If there is contact with the eyes, this mixture may cause blindness. If eye or mouth contact occurs, rinse for about 3 to 5 minutes. If persistent irritation occurs, consult a doctor or a poison control center.
