Replace iPhone 6S Battery

If the battery in your iPhone 6S is giving you trouble, you’ve come to the right place because we are going to show you how to replace it in a few simple steps. Before you start opening your iPhone 6s, make sure you have a clean workspace. Also make sure your iPhone 6s is turned off.

Steps

  1. Start by removing the two Pentalobe screws on either of the Lightning connector.
  2. Use a suction cup to lift the front panel from the back panel.  Place your suction cup against the display, just above (but not covering) the home button. While holding the iPhone down with one hand, pull up on the suction cup to slightly separate the front panel assembly from the rear case.
  3. Don't open the display more than 90 degrees, as it is still connected at the top by three cables that may break if stretched.
  4. Lean the display against something to keep it propped up while you're working on the phone.
  5. Remove the two Phillips head screws from the battery connector bracket.
  6. Remove the metal battery connector bracket from the iPhone 6S.
  7. Use the flat end of a spudger to disconnect the battery connector from the logic board.
  8. Use tweezers to peel up the edges of the two adhesive strips at the bottom of the battery. Then grab the ends of the two adhesive strips and hold them together. Try to keep the strips flat and wide. Slowly and gently pull the two strips up and away from the phone. The strips will stretch to many times the length of the battery—keep pulling until they come out from between the battery and the rear case.
  9. Remove the battery from the rear case.
  10. Now place your new iPhone 6S Battery and follow the previous steps in reverse.

Tips

  • If you have a cracked screen, place some tape over the cracks, before using the suction cup. This way the suction cup will have better grip.

Warnings

  • Power off the iPhone 6s, before beginning disassembly
  • Take your time and apply firm, constant force while lifting the screen.
