Roast Raw Almonds
Almonds contain a full range of B vitamins, vitamin E and minerals like magnesium, copper, zinc, potassium and iron. They help in lowering total cholesterol. This article will show you how to roast almonds.
Steps
- Spread the raw almonds in a single layer on an ungreased cookie sheet
- Preheat oven to {{safesubst:#invoke:convert|convert}}.
- Roast the almonds in the oven for 15-20 minutes, until a nice nutty smell comes from the oven. Watch them carefully - they can burn quickly. The outer skin should be golden brown.
- Taste an almond to check if it's done. Cut or bite the nut; the inside should be a light brown color. It should taste light and smell sweet and not burnt. At that point, remove them instantly from the oven.
- Sprinkle them with salt to taste and toss well. Allow them to cool, then remove from the cookie sheet and store in a container for future snacking.
Tips
- Almonds continue to roast a bit even when they are removed from oven, so take them out before they are too brown inside.
- When the almonds are out hot from the oven, for snacking immediately toss them in melted butter or cinnamon sugar if you like it sweet.
