Shave Almonds

Shaved almonds add both distinct flavor and excellence in food presentation. Shaving almonds can be tricky and even dangerous if not done properly but the rewards are well worth the risk, once one understands the proper technique of this gourmet task.

Ingredients

  • Raw almonds (not toasted)

Steps

  1. Take the almonds and turn them so the widest point faces parallel to the cutting implement.
  2. Cut the almonds into wafer thin slices.
  3. Collect the almond slices in a bowl.
  4. Toast the almond slices in the oven until slightly brown.

Tips

  • Have a fire extinguisher on hand just in case.
  • Children should always be supervised when sharp objects and heating apparatuses are in use.

Warnings

  • Do not try to shave almonds if you've consumed any alcohol.
  • One can easily cut their hand on sharp shaving apparatus.
  • Ovens are hot and can cause fires. Be diligent.
