Save Money with Online Printable Coupons

As the price of everything from gas to groceries increases, you may be looking for new ways to trim your monthly bills. Many shoppers are now returning to one of the most traditional ways to save at the grocery store - coupons. However, this standard way of saving money at the grocery store has recently been updated and brought to where you are spending more time. Coupons have moved online.

Printable coupons on the Internet frequently provide higher value savings than the traditional coupons that are found in the Sunday newspaper. They are also more convenient and make it easier to find coupons for items that you regularly buy. Just follow these easy instructions for using printable coupons, and you will see a noticeable decrease in your weekly shopping bill.

Steps

  1. Select a coupon destination site of your choice.
  2. Visit the coupon site to browse the available coupons before you go shopping.
  3. Select the coupons that you will use at the store.
  4. Click on the “print” button. Wait for the coupons to come out of your printer.
    • If you’ve never printed coupons before, the website will ask you to install the coupon printer software (you only have to do this once). Follow the steps until the software is installed.
  5. Take your coupons to the store with you. You can even use the printed coupons as a shopping list while you stroll through the aisles. Don't be surprised when you find most retailers do not take internet coupons.

Tips

  • Consider having an alternate email address for when you sign up for coupons. Otherwise, you may find yourself inundated with junk mail. You can also create filters and set aside a folder for the companies that send you email.
  • Always remember to block the retailer from sending you junk mails.
  • Nearly all retailers accept legitimate printable coupons, as long as they scan properly and don’t appear to be copies or altered in some way. If a store won’t take your coupon, ask the checker to scan your coupon. Printable coupons have bar codes that scan just like the coupons that come in the newspaper. If this doesn’t convince the checker, speak to the store manager and refer him or her to the Retailer Resources website that is printed on most coupons and contact the store’s corporate headquarters. Sometimes local stores are not aware of their corporate policy to accept printable coupons.
  • Coupon destination sites are not the only places to find coupons on the Internet. If you are looking for a specific product, you should also check the brand’s website or Facebook page for printable coupons.
  • Never add the retailer to your email contact list

Warnings

  • Print coupons only from the brand website for the products you are interested in, or well-known savings sites or major websites that you trust.
  • Be aware that most coupon websites won't state when the coupons expire until they are printed out. It's easier to set up a printing schedule at the beginning of the month instead of finding out that your printer paper and ink went to waste with coupons expiring in a few days.
  • Never pay for a coupon or buy them on auction sites. Some people will tell you they are charging for their time to clip and organize the coupons. Don’t fall for it!
  • Avoid coupon swapping sites or sites that post graphic images of coupons.
  • Don’t make or use copies or printouts of scanned images of coupons.
  • Never photocopy coupons. Not only is this unethical, but also illegal.
  • Be suspicious of printable coupons for a free product or one that seems too good to be true.
  • When obtaining printable coupons online, you will never see the actual coupon on your screen, only an offer to print it. Real coupons require special software to print proper bar codes and limit the number of prints of each coupon.

Things You'll Need

  • Access to a computer with an Internet connection.
  • An alternative email account(preferably don't use your personal email account).
  • A working printer that is connected to the computer.
